Following the successful location of the burial site of Mary Edna Brown Coleman, one of the 22 Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Washington DC Alumnae Chapter partnered with several local Delta Sigma Theta chapters, Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Woodlawn Cemetery to establish the Woodlawn Collaborative Project. Together, the partners are working to restore the historic cemetery, where founding members of both sororities are laid to rest, preserve an important chapter of African American history, and increase public awareness of its cultural and historical significance.
