  • More than 200 million women and girls have been victims of female genital mutilation (FGM), a practice that involves the cutting of genitalia for non-medical reasons. This results in short and long-term physical and psychological trauma.

FGM is a human rights violation that affects millions of girls annually. The United Nations has declared the goal of eradicating this practice by 2030 and designated Feb. 6 as the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.

Support groups that protect girls from FGM like I Can Fly International, a school in Kenya supported by WDCAC that works to halt FGM, the trafficking of girls and child marriage. Join the cause and spread the word.

  • Delta’s are never shy to go RED!

National Wear Red Day is the icon day of American Heart Month. Join us as we wear red and help raise awareness of women’s No. 1 killer – cardiovascular disease.

Be the Beat by wearing red, sharing at least one healthy habit you’re prioritizing – it could be around sleep, stress, physical activity, nutrition or whatever works best for you – and encourage others to do the same. We can help the women we know, and love reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease by building the healthy habits we know work.

  • National Freedom Day! This holiday commemorates the signing of a resolution to outlaw slavery which would later become the 13th Amendment on February 1, 1865.

While we celebrate the achievements and advancements the 13th Amendment has afforded us, we must remember and bring awareness to Human trafficking, a modern form of slavery that quietly threatens our freedoms.

Human trafficking is the use of power and control to force, defraud, or coerce someone into engaging in labor (including sex work), services or sexual activity. Trafficking can impact adults and children of all genders, sexual identities, races, and ethnicities-- but Black women are among the most vulnerable.
