Monday Night Politics: DC Delegate Candidates Share Their Vision for the District’s Future

One Stage. Ten Candidates. A Better-Informed Community.

The Social Action Committee hosted its most successful Barbara Powell Johnson Monday Night Politics event to date on November 17, with a 90-minute candidates forum for DC Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. Of the 12 candidates invited, 10 participated, and the event drew 160 participants—making it the highest attended Barbara Powell Johnson Monday Night Politics series event in history. The event also featured full representation from the Eastern Region and DC statewide leadership.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. New DC residents expressed appreciation for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the candidates, and many attendees found the forum informative, particularly the diverse perspectives shared on the DC statehood debate.

One attendee shared: “Thank you, WDCAC, for hosting an insightful event tonight spotlighting candidates for DC Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. Hearing their perspectives firsthand was a reminder of how advocacy starts with informed engagement.”
