Advocacy Day on the Hill: Showing Up for the District

Championing Federal Priorities That Impact DC Residents

During Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital, held March 20–24, 2026, members of the Social Action Committee visited the office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton on Capitol Hill to engage on issues of critical importance to DC residents and communities across the country. This was in collaboration with the Federal City Alumnae Chapter.

The delegation raised a substantive range of priorities during their visit, including the SAVE Act, DC Statehood, housing, educational justice, and the UFIGHT Act — legislation focused on uterine fibroid research and early detection.

Chapter representatives met with staff from Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's office to discuss legislative priorities, including DC Statehood, housing, educational justice, and the UFIGHT Act.

The visit was a timely reminder of the unique civic responsibility carried by Washington, DC sorors. As residents of the nation’s capital — where nearly 700,000 Americans remain without full voting representation in Congress — showing up, speaking up, and staying engaged is not just encouraged but essential.
