Washington, DC will use Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) for the first time in the upcoming election cycle, and the Social Action Committee made sure WDCAC members were prepared well in advance.
Ahead of the May 2026 chapter meeting, the Committee hosted a virtual RCV training attended by more than 60 sorors. The session was led by Soror Monica Holman Evans, Executive Director of the DC Board of Elections.
Members engaged directly by asking questions, working through real-world voting scenarios, and exploring how to clearly explain the new voting process to friends, family, and neighbors.
The training also sparked a broader conversation about expanding the chapter’s partnership with the DC Board of Elections through voter registration drives, social media outreach, and ongoing civic education initiatives. As the District prepares for its first Ranked Choice Voting election, the Social Action Committee looks forward to serving as election workers and continuing to strengthen civic engagement across the community.
